Kareen F. Coates

Mrs. Kareen "Kay" Frances Bell Coates, age 81, of Palm Beach Gardens, passed away on November 3, 2025. Kay was born in Muskegon, MI on February 27, 1944. She was married to her soulmate, James "Jim" Coates, for 55 years until his passing on July 14, 2018.

Kay was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whose home was always open to her family. For decades, Kay could be found weekly on Bingo nights at Knights of Columbus in Palm Beach Gardens, where she made lifelong friends. Kay was an avid reader and was known for being a "living thesaurus." In her spare time, she enjoyed excelling at crossword puzzles and playing Solitaire.

Kay is survived by her children, Jim (Cindy) Coates and Traci Coates (Tim) Wehage; her grandchildren, Tyler (Sarah) Coates, Christina Paris (former spouse Steve Olson), Josh (Danielle) Coates, Heather Paris, Timmy Wehage, and Alexis Coates (James) Heatherly; her great-grandchildren, Trevor Coates, Faith Coates, Stephen Olson, Gabe Coates, Callie Olson, Hudson Coates, and Parker Coates; her siblings, Barbara Bell Veltman and Lonnie Bell. She is preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Glen Bell; and siblings, Lavern Bell and Beverly Bell Meloche.

A private family service will be held to honor her memory.

Her warmth, laughter, and love for her family will never be forgotten.
