

He was born in Joplin MO., graduated from Wichita, Kansas High School East, served four years in the US Air Force and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Wichita State University. His professional career included positions with Allis-Chalmers, Boeing, and Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. He retired from Pratt & Whitney -23 August 1991. He then pursued his interest in travel, woodworking and his passion Bass Fishing. He was a long-term member of the Bee-Line Bass Busters Club and Taylor Creek Bass Club. He donated his time and efforts to an organization known as “Friends of Lake Okeechobee”. For these efforts he was awarded “Water Conservationist of the Year” by the Florida Wildlife Federation in 2001.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ward, and Mildred Harris, his first wife Barbara C. and his siblings-sister Patricia Watkins and his brother Jack L. Harris.
He is survived by his second wife Marilyn L, his two sons (by Barbara) and their families: Joseph (wife Shirley and son Terry) and Jim (wife Jeannie, son Nick, daughter Shannon and her husband Jon).
He was a devoted husband, a loving father/grandfather and a true friend to those who had the privilege of knowing him.
