Margaret Mary Len, affectionately known as Peggy, passed away peacefully at home with her daughter Sue on May 4th at the remarkable age of 93. Born in Detroit on August 3, 1930, to Margaret and John Connolly, Peggy spent most of her vibrant life in Dearborn and Dearborn Heights.
A proud graduate of Fordson High School, Class of 1948, Peggy went on to work at Michigan Bell and then Ford Motor Company. On April 7, 1951, she married her high school sweetheart, Eugene “Gene” Len, beginning a love story that spanned over 52 years and countless adventures.
Peggy cherished every moment spent with family and friends, whether it was a casual gathering at her home or the cottage, or a heartfelt phone call just to catch up. She relished her trips to California to spend time with Paul and Stephanie and her journeys to Florida to visit Sue, Jim, and her dearest granddaughters Lauren and Erin. One of her life's highlights was her trip to Ireland, where she joyfully connected with many aunts, uncles, and cousins, some for the first time, embracing her Irish heritage with pride.
Peggy was a master of many crafts. She spent countless summer hours tending to her garden, solving crosswords with ease, devouring books, and knitting with skill and love. Her involvement in church groups and the neighborhood garden club brought her much joy. Peggy's zest for life saw her participating in a bowling league, a ski club, and a long-standing member on The Fairlane Club Tennis league. When Gene retired, they took up golfing, spending many happy hours on the course with friends and family. Peggy lived life to the fullest and brought joy to everyone around her.
Preceded in death by her parents Margaret and John Connolly, her brothers Jack (Elaine) and Dennis, her beloved husband Eugene, and her son Michael, Peggy leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter with her surviving family: son Paul (Stephanie), daughter Sue (Jim), and granddaughters Lauren (Denis) and Erin. Her support, wisdom, and unwavering presence will be forever cherished by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at St. Anselm Church on August 2, 2024, at 11:00 am. All family and friends are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association are appreciated. A luncheon will follow at Park Place in Dearborn. Please RSVP to Paul Len or Sue Snyder if you will be able to join us for lunch.
Peggy's spirit, love, and laughter will remain in our hearts forever. She truly was an amazing person, always ready with a smile, a kind word, and an open heart. She lived her life fully, and we are all better for having knowing her.
