Fifteen months after Marjorie was born, my mother Phyllis Wineman was born—November 28, 1934.  Close in age they attended family events and children’s activities together such as the birthday party of Jimmy Langston, Aunt Violet’s (my grandmother’s sister) son.  We have a group children’s picture commemorating this event.  Marjorie is in the back row, third to the left.  My mother, Phyllis Wineman is in the front row, third from the right, with the birthday boy Jimmy Langston, to her right.

Part 2

Margie was very industrious.  Several years ago, I accompanied her to a doctor’s appointment in West Palm Beach.  During the trip we drove by some of the WPB mansions, and Margie told me on gardener days she would take clippings from the curb.  She would take these clippings home at root them.  From these clippings she grew plants and shrubs that landscaped her home.
In Margie’s adult years it was obvious to all that she was a dedicated mother to David and Doug and partner to her husband Van.  Margie often attended family events with her extended family and was a gracious hostess to our visits to her home.  I feel blessed to have known her for these many years.

I’m honored to have known Marjorie “Margie” for as long as I have.  We both shared a common interest in family history.  She was able to give me tremendous insight into our family’s past.  As she was the youngest of my grandmother’s first cousins she had a lot to share with me.  
To begin with, right as Margie was about to be born in August of 1933 there was a story.  My grandparents: Phillip Wineman and Margie’s first cousin Annie Mae “Ann” Marcy had begun to date and visited Margie’s mother, Sarah in the hospital.  It may have been later that same night that my grandparents eloped after a one-week courtship, married on August 19, 1933 in Green Cove Springs.  Margie was born on August 20th.  My grandparents’ marriage lasted over 70 years on this earth.
Fifteen months after Margie was born, my mother Phyllis Wineman was born—November 28, 1934.  Close in age they attended family events and children’s activities together such as the birthday party of Jimmy Langston, Aunt Violet’s (my grandmother’s sister) son. Margie once told me that she lost her father around age 12, but was happy she had the years she did with him and happy for the time he spent with her.
Margie shared with me that she felt that my great grandmother—Lorena LeGrande Hudson, who she called “Aunt Dan” was a very strong woman.  She said Aunt Dan practically ran Duval Ford, where she worked for many years.  I’ve heard, however, that Margie also was a very strong lady from early on.  As a teenager, not being happy with the living arrangements, living with a relative, she took it upon herself to seek other accommodations for she and her mother.  She was able to select and negotiate an apartment that was within their household budget, and away they moved into their new abode.

Most beautiful woman. I am so grateful for all the visits to us, my Grandparents and Mom and Dad's Anniversary and Birthday parties. My fondest memory of her is with her Mother Sara plumbing their home years ago. BTW Rocky graduated from Florida Atlantic University as well with one of his degrees. L'Chiam.
