Miriam Ruth Speakman, lovingly known as Ruth, was 87 years old when she passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. She is finally reunited in heaven with her beloved husband of 64 years, Dr. E. Wayne Speakman. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great grandmother. Ruth was the heart of her family and very dedicated to her beloved Wayne throughout her life.
Born in Chestertown, Maryland, Ruth grew up as the daughter of a pastor and carried her faith throughout her life. Her mother, Laura Albright Post, was a pioneer in ministry, founding a church in Newark, Delaware, where Ruth’s journey in faith began. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she instilled those Christian values and beliefs in her children, raising four successful adults who stay strong in their faith to this day.
Ruth’s life illustrated kindness, compassion, gentleness, tenderness, as well as extreme love and devotion to her family. Whether through raising her children or supporting Wayne’s pastoral career, Ruth’s love for her family was always at the center of everything she did. Ruth always put her family’s needs before her own and did it with love. She also loved laughing and spending quality time with her family and friends. Her warm smile and hospitality were felt by everyone who crossed her path.
Ruth loved to travel all parts of the world with her beloved Wayne. During their travels they also got to visit the Holy lands and were able to take each of their children there. Ruth also had many hobbies and was a woman of many talents and skills; as she enjoyed photography, biking, swimming, shelling, gardening, decorating for Christmas, making Christmas boxes, and antiquing. Ruth used to love antiquing with Wayne and even owned a section of an antique shop called “Sweet Memories” when they lived in Brandon, Fl. Ruth also enjoyed selling glasses and frames for many years at an Optometrist Office in Jupiter, and later went on to enjoy selling Real Estate with her daughter Miriam. Ruth always enjoyed entertaining her children as well by riding Sea Doo’s, climbing trees, camping across the United States, going to Disney World, and riding on the back of Branson’s motorcycle.
In her later years, Ruth found joy being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her faith, unwavering and constant, was an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished by those who were lucky enough to share in her love and wisdom.
Ruth is survived by her children, Art (Janice), Miriam, Branson (Jessie), and Marla (Dennis Galindez); her grandchildren, Bradley, Raymond, Benjamin, Madison, and Caden and her great-grandchildren, Sarai, Caleb, and Elijah. She is also reunited in heaven with, her sister, Dorcas Bailey, and her parents, Laura and Raymond Albright.
