Paul Robert Welsh C.P.A.; a Father, a Friend, a Mentor, and a Taxnerd. These titles given cannot begin to explain the man Paul Welsh was. He was a Hemingway, Jacques Cousteau, mixed with the dos Equis guy (the most interesting man in the world).
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, C. Robert and Jane E. Welsh in 2022.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he grew up in Ocean City Maryland with six siblings. He graduated high school from Worcester Preparatory School in 1977 and went on to pursue a Bachelor's in Accounting from Salisbury University. Next, he achieved his Masters of Science in Taxation. He moved the family to Florida in 2000.
Scuba diving was his first choice of many Florida activities, he became a course director for PADI and a master diver. Meeting Paul on a dive boat brought many friends’ homes to enjoy a good dinner and even better company. Paul loved to cook and host, not some grandiose event, but home cooked meals from the heart. Shots of tequila and cheers to life were spontaneous at the Welsh house. When he wasn't below the ocean waves, he was high in the sky flying with his twin engine pilots license. Enjoying the views that Florida had to offer. Recently, Paul and his son enjoyed golfing. Almost every weekend "hey I'm on the 15th can I call you back" except during Tax season, then it was hunker down time. Though sometimes he could get out, play hooky, (or slicey) to spend family time with Austin, but then right back to the grindstone.
Paul was an extraordinary gentleman, surrounded by loved ones. His family included his son, Austin; his sisters, Ginnie, Patty, Kathy, and Nancy; his brothers, Thomas and Michael; wonderful nieces and nephews; as well as many great friends and loved ones. All who will continue to remember Paul as a great Father, a Friend, a Mentor, and a Taxnerd.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March, 2, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Aycock-Riverside Funeral Home, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 33458.
