Peter J. Kampine, 46, of Jupiter, Florida passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 21, 2010. Peter is survived by his wife Heather (Pepicello) Kampine and two young children, Jack and Olivia. Peter was a loving husband, father, brother, son, nephew and friend who will be missed by many.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, WI, Peter is survived by his parents, Dr. John P. and Susan Kampine, brother John M. Kampine (Stephanie), sister Mary K. Schmidt (William), sister Margaret M. Talbot (Michael), brother William J. Kampine (Andrea). Nephews and nieces include Ian, Cullen & Tea Kampine; Alex, Grace and Tess Talbot; Elijah and Benjamin Kampine. He is survived by numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Peter graduated from the University of Iowa where he majored in finance and pursued a successful career as a banker and entrepreneur. Through his career, schooling and personal relationships, Peter had an unparalleled zest for life, a drive for excellence and a loyalty to friends and family.
Peter never did anything half way. In high school, he excelled in basketball, quarter-backed the football team and participated in many sports. In college, he was a walk-on for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes. He shared a love of the Green Bay Packers with his father and brothers and Packer Game Day became a sacred event—no matter where he lived. Peter had a huge heart and his competitive spirit fueled a drive for excellence and setting high goals.
He met the love of his life, Heather, and settled down to become a devoted and loving husband. He reveled in the joy their children brought them and cherished all of his special times with each of them. His greatest joys were their smallest moments of love.
If Peter were here today, he would look toward the future. He would acknowledge the grief, share with family and friends; but keep an eye on the horizon. His generous spirit, expansive soul and joy for life will be remembered by many. At this moment of sadness, tears become the mortar that binds our happy memories of Peter all of which are marked by his big, sparkling smile. We choose to remember Peter as he would wish—climbing over the next hill to explore the next challenge before him. His family and friends loved him dearly and will miss him for a lifetime.
