Rhonda Holmes Cornell PhD

Rhonda Holmes Cornell, PhD of Palm Beach Gardens, FL passed away on January 24, 2020 at the Jupiter Pavilion. She was born in Cullman, AL on August 30, 1951; the daughter of the late Douglas and Melba Holmes.

Rhonda graduated from Clearwater High School. She continued her education at the University of Alabama, earning her bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in speech and language pathology and her PhD in psychology. She also attended the University of West Florida, earning a master degree in public administration. She married the late Donald Carter Cornell and together they shared 44 years of marriage.

Rhonda was self-employed as a speech and language pathologist for many years. She enjoyed painting, reading, was involved with the church, A.M.A. lobbyist, sewing, concert pianist, croquet, interior design and was an honor flight chaperone.

She is survived by three children, Ashley Flora, Jordan Cornell and Lauren Pittman; eleven grandchildren, and a brother, Sherwin Holmes.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter. A Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home at 4:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made in Rhonda’s name to Southeast Florida Honor Flight, Inc. PO Box 1503, Stuart, FL 34995.
