Richard (Dick) Krar, age 83, of Jupiter, FL, passed away on September 23, 2025. He shared 63 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Patricia (“Poo”) Krar. He is survived by his wife Patricia; their daughter, Deborah Raynock (husband Alan) and grandson Alan Jr. (wife Jenny); and their son Richard (wife Meredith), granddaughter Katie (husband Andrew), great-grandson Colton, and grandsons Brendan and Ryan. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and George Krar, and his brother, George Krar.
Dick proudly served in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964. He completed basic training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center and trained as a Fire Control Technician at Bainbridge, MD. He served aboard the USS Hammerberg out of Newport, RI, sailing extensively around South America, crossing the equator twice, and making several passages through the Panama Canal. He served during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was on active duty at the time of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Earlier in his service, Dick also participated in a parade honoring Kennedy after his election— an event that remained a special memory of his time in uniform. Dick was honorably discharged in 1964, shortly after the birth of his first child, Deborah.
Following his military service, Dick began a long and dedicated career with Pratt & Whitney in 1964. He and his family lived in Bristol, CT until 1988, when he relocated with the company to Jupiter, FL. Over the course of 37 years, Dick worked in quality control, earning the respect of colleagues for his expertise and commitment.
After his retirement from Pratt, Dick worked alongside Patricia at several companies. They were inseparable, both at work and at play. Together they enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, and time with their children and grandchildren, along with their beloved dogs, Molly and Maggie.
In the last eight years of his life, Dick and Patricia lived next door to their son Richard and his wife Meredith in Jupiter Farms, where they treasured evenings spent sharing stories and laughter with family. They kept close ties with their extended family in Connecticut, always cherishing the moments and memories that bound them together. His relationship with God and family was, and always will be, his most important legacy.
In 2018, Dick began attending Calvary Church in Jupiter Farms, where he found great comfort and devotion in his faith. Guided by the church’s teaching team, he deepened his relationship with God and, in February 2024, was baptized alongside Patricia, son Richard, and grandsons Brendan and Ryan, a moment of profound joy and meaning for his family.
In 2018, his daughter Deborah and her family moved to Lenoir City, TN. This allowed Dick and Patricia to become snowbirds, dividing their time between Florida and Tennessee. He especially loved summers spent fishing on the pristine lakes with his son-in-law Al and grandson Alan Jr. His Tennessee family held a very special place in his heart.
Dick was also a proud great-grandfather to Colton. His biggest regret was not being able to meet Colton’s little brother, who is expected to arrive in February of next year.
A memorial service celebrating Dick’s life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Church, Jupiter, FL.
