“Bob” was born on December 7, 1943. Bob’s proud parents, who preceded him in death, were Ruth Holland and Edward Chlebek of Fall River, MA.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandra Humbert, his children who loved him dearly, Laurie Beth (Chlebek) and Michael Gordon, and Dana Chlebek, his four adoring grandchildren of whom he was most proud, Lyndsey Gordon, Jake Gordon, Dakota Gordon and Jesse Gordon, and his loyal brother, Edward Chlebek, Jr.
His heartbroken crew will miss listening to the tales of his days as a star basketball and football player at BMC Durfee High School in Fall River, his summers as a lifeguard at Warren’s Point Beach Club in Little Compton, RI, his adventures on the many sailboats he owned over the years exploring the waters of New England and Florida, his career as a successful businessman with Texas Instruments, Phillips N.V. and Ametek, and his vast travels throughout the world.
They will miss his love of the ocean, his quick wit, his dimpled cheeks, his funny dance moves, his affinity for spicy foods, his love of the songs ``Crocodile Rock” and “Down Under”, his daily obsession with the weather and the winds, his signature gumbo, his generous nature, his love of a good shopping spree, and the upcoming adventures they had planned to share together. May Bob’s sails continue to be full.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Loggerhead Marine Life Center.
“Sailing
Takes me away to where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free”
