Sheila was the ninth child born to Dr. Bernard and Elizabeth Collins, on August 8, 1930 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. Her father passed away when she was 6 years old. Sheila's mother died suddenly when she was 16. Sheila moved to New York and lived with her eldest sister and her family. She attended finishing school after graduating Catherine McAuley Catholic High School in New York.
One of Sheila's friends fixed her up on a blind date with Vincent Burns. They quickly fell in love and became soulmates for life. They were married December 29, 1951 and moved to Juno Beach, Florida. They had four children. Sheila worked with her husband at "Hilltop Motel" and his general contracting business. Eventually, together, they developed "Surfside Hills" in Juno Beach.
Sheila was an active member of the Garden Club and The Junior Women's Club. She was also an active volunteer at ARC and the March of Dimes. She was a devout Catholic who looked forward to attending daily mass. She was always lending a helping hand to those in need.
Sheila had a passion for life and lived it to the fullest. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met. She loved to entertain family and friends, and leaves behind happy memories of a life well lived. She was a fine example of what a mother, wife, relative and a friend should be with her strong values.
Sheila was predeceased by her loving husband, Vincent in 2017. She cared for him for a number of years.
She is survived by her four children: Libbie DeLosh (Chet), Charles Burns (Marybeth), Vince Burns (Kelley), Patty Jane DiBiasio ( Peter deceased). She is also survived by 9 Grandchildren, and 5 Great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held in early fall.
