Although a Floridian through and through, for he loved to take his bike out and enjoy the beautiful sunshine, Steve came to Florida with his wife Lesley from Nevada, where they met. But it is his California and Hawaiian roots that gave Steve his laid-back, easy going nature. His ability to lighten the moment was one of his endearing qualities, only second to his sense of humor, for Steve made Lesley laugh. She will miss so much of him, but that quality most of all; as E. E. Cummings said, “The most wasted of all days is one without laughter;” Steve Lopes wasted no days.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cecila Vasconcello Lopes and his father, Sylvester Lopes. He leaves behind his wife, Lesley Stuart, as well as his son Steven Sylvester Lopes and daughter-in-law Stephanie Lopes and new-to-this-world granddaughter, Luciana Lien Lopes. Also mourning his loss are his brother and sister-in-law, Cliff and Marilyn Lopes and stepsons Wells, Bradley, and Graham Brauner, step grandchild Grayson Liam Brauner along with his stepdaughters Lauren and Megan Bracken.
He would want people to smile…always.
Memorial gathering to be held Saturday, July 23rd, from 1-3pm, service will begin at 3pm, Aycock Funeral Home, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter FL 33458.
