I was in the NC State Aero Engineering Class of 1960 with Tom.  Tom was a good friend and always upbeat.  He had a unique sense of humor and was pretty doggone smart. Over the years I lost and then regained his email only to lose contact again several years ago.  Now I understand why as I have learned that  Tom passed some months back.  I’m sorry that I didn’t learn this earlier but I hope it’s not too late to offer my condolences to his family.

I worked with Tom at three different companies. CSC Infonet my first job after the Army, at Kentron International and then Fed Sources. Tom was a mentor, visionary and friend. Some of my fondest memories are my Fed Sources days when we would go to Longboat Key to go sailing through the intercostal to Sanibel and Captiva islands with Tom Sanders and when we would run aground on a sandbar which we always did we would put Jeff on the dinghy to row out with the anchor so we could winch our boat off the sandbar. My other favorite memory of those Fed Sources days was in the winter going to ski in Vail with both customers and business partners as a way of connecting across the Federal IT community. Tom had a great way of breaking down barriers between government and industry and it often involved a day on the slopes. Tom you were a great boss and even better friend. RIP my friend. 

Tom and I were partners at Federal Sources from almost the beginning to the end. We were a perfect match. Me the tech weenie and he the consummate entrepreneur. I watched the master salesman at work in wonder.  His favorite saying was "I could imagine" and it worked so well. We all worked hard at Fed Sources and had some fun along the way. Nearly went out of business, struggled to turn it around, then finally found great success. Mostly due to his drive and business sense. He made many friends along the way who are better people for having known him. He will be sorely missed.

Tom was a frat brother from 1956 to 1960. My number at BT was 552. He was a good study friend and just a good person to be in College with. Those were ROTC days. He was Air Force and I was Army. We did our part. Had various good reports over the years. A life well lived.

I am blessed with fond memories of Tom, for which, I am very grateful. Like so many others, I was the beneficiary of his generous support to those navigating the early days of their careers. Without reservation, Tom gave of himself to help others, offering advice rooted in his business and life experience, along with a kind word and a smile. He led with honesty and strength of character, providing an example for others to follow, and in so doing, he had a positive effect on those coming after him.

Tom’s passing represents the loss of man of significant business accomplishments, of a leader in the technology space, of an advocate for sound business practices in government, and of a decent colleague and friend to so many. Please accept my prayers and condolences at this difficult time.

Tom Hewitt was simply "the best". The best entrepreneur, the best sea captain, the best California Cabernet collector, (maybe not the best golfer) and a wonderful/ best friend to all.

Tommy and Marlene were so kind to us when Bob and I visited them in their home! Tommy loved cars so he shared with us about special places for cars near their home! He lived next door to me in Newton, N C where he made sure his car was neat and clean! Tommy loved his hometown friends as they loved him!

I worked for Tom at Fed Sources.  He was an icon in the GovCon market and a kind person. He touched so many young and well established careers. I still fondly remember his advice. Here are a couple:
1) At a networking event, never spend more than 2-3 minutes talking to one person. Get to the point quickly.
2) Always take chances...that's how I started Fed Sources.
3) Close your eyes and step on the gas (he said from the driver's seat of his Cadillac crossing Route 7 on the way to customer meeting).  
  
He is truly missed but never forgotten.

Tom was a wonderful person. He was accomplished, kind and a man of humor. He was a friend. He kept his friends forever. His  energy and enthusiasm were  boundless. Tom was well loved by many. In the end, he was courageous and without complaint. Just on of those  persons you never forget.

Tom and I began a friendship in the early 1970's when he was with CSC I was with a competitor trying to recruit him. Great guy- I really enjoyed  our interaction. I am very sorry to learn of  departure.

Tom made a huge difference in my career and life. At a very low point, picked me up by giving me a chance with Fed Sources. He was a force in the federal marketplace and I rode his coattails to gain a lot of knowledge from him. 
And he was an absolute trip to be around!!! Big and generous, willing to try anything that had a chance of success, linking people together to make both better.

Interestingly, I was thinking of your Dad just yesterday as I ran across notes from an interview I had with him a couple of years ago. Jeff connected us as I was just then starting a company serving people with memory loss. Tom was kind and courageous and forthcoming in sharing his experience with me, and his willingness to contribute to our research added depth to our work. I am sad to hear of his passing. Blessings to your family.

Tom was the best business man in the Federal IT market. I learned a lot about sales from Tom.

I met Tom Hewitt when he was selling time sharing of the mainframe computers of Boeing in Seatle in the late 1960's. We became social friends at BCC of him and Marlene and their two fabulous children, Jeff and Chrissy. God blessed us to share many fun times with him and Marlene plus Tom helped us in business serving on our company's Board of Directors with thoughtful ideas. I would need much more space to truly tell of our friendship than allowed here. He was a great man in all respects, a role model for other men. He set the gold standard as a kind and loving person, as a father, as a businessman, as a friend and so much more. God will reward him for his exemplary life, we are sure.
