Thomas Lee Hewitt, 83, of Jupiter, FL, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 29, 2022. He was born September 6, 1938 in Newton, NC to the late Manual Lowe Hewitt and Floy Gabriel Hewitt.
Tom served in the Air Force for three years at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH.
In business, Tom left his mark as leader in the world of Federal Information Technology when he founded Federal Sources, Inc. Fed Sources filled a void of information that wasn’t readily available back in the early 1980s. Fed Sources educated the technology industry about the tremendous opportunities in federal IT, a market whose potential was not well understood at the time.
Federal Sources grew into something of an institution. If a company did significant contracting business with government entities, there was a good chance it had consulted with Fed Sources or subscribed to one of its databases.
In 1998, Tom sold Federal Sources, Inc to Primedia Business Information Group.
After retiring, Tom moved to Admirals Cove in Jupiter FL with his wife Marlene. He served on the board the Admirals Cove Master Property Owners Association for three years, and as president for one.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Marlene Cerrito Hewitt of Jupiter, his son Jeff Hewitt and daughter-in-law Diana Beltramo Hewitt of Menlo Park, CA, his daughter Chrissy Hewitt of New Canaan, CT, as well as his grandchildren Lisa Hewitt, Sara Hewitt, Whitney Woerz, and Ashton Woerz.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Jupiter Medical Center https://www.jmcfoundation.org/ways-to-give/tribute-gift/
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Aycock-Riverside Funeral Home at 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL, 33458, Thursday, July 7 at 11:00am. A reception will follow at the Club at Admiral’s Cove at 200 Admiral’s Cove Blvd, Jupiter, FL 33477.
