Wallace E. Turgiss, 88, of Andover, MA., and Tequesta, FL., passed away on June 15, 2011 in Palm Beach, FL., surrounded by his devoted family. Originally from Woburn, MA., he was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He served in the Air Force Strategic Air Command attaining the rank of Buck Sergeant, Airman First Class. As a crew chief, he flew gasoline over the Himalayas to China. His favorite hobbies included: golf, boating, gardening, and carpentry. He was a member of the Woburn Elks and Tequesta American Legion.
He is survived by his loving wife Gloria B. Turgiss of Andover, MA., son Keith W. Turgiss, Las Vegas, NV., son Bruce E. Turgiss of Burlington, MA., daughter Lorna A. Fairess of Lumberton, NJ. Other survivors include many dear nieces and nephews and six grandchildren: Krystal L. Turgiss, Eric M. Fairess, Nicholas W. Turgiss, Blake A. Fairess, Oksana D. Turgiss, and Connor N. Fairess.
A memorial service will be held in his honor on July 30, 2011 at the Cota Funeral Home at 10:00 am in North Reading, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jupiter Medical Center, 1210 South Old Dixie Highway, Jupiter, FL., 33458, or donate online at www.jmcfoundation.org
