Alfonso "Ponso" Banaag, 81, of Haiku, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2011 at Hale Makua in Wailuku. "Ponso" was born on September 12, 1930 in Catarman Caminguin, Philippines. He was a retired maintenance worker. "Ponso" is survived by his wife, Timotea Banaag; four sons, Danny, Jerry (Hazel), James "Poloy", and Aris (Heidi) Banaag; a daughter, Marie Alti Banaag; a younger brother, Eugenio Banaag; sixteen grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jorge and Hermingilda Banaag; four brothers, Maximo, Catalino, Candido, and Casimero Banaag; and a sister, Eustaqua Marshal.
Visitation: Family and friends are invited to gather for funeral services on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Christ The King Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the church
Services: On Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Christ The King Catholic Church, Mass at 7:30 p.m. On Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the church, service at 11:30 a.m.
Interment: Burial will follow 12:30 p.m. at Maui Memorial Park.
