
Born in 1919, Bruce started a career in show business as a child actor in Hollywood, where he was featured in 13 silent movies for Warner Bros. He started playing piano at age five, finally pursuing a Degree in Music at UCLA. Bruce joined the US Army in January, 1941, and served as a pianist in the Pearl Harbor USO Orchestra, where his performances with Bob Hope, The Andrews Sister, Ray Bolger and many other stars of the day were broadcast throughout the Pacific. Following the war in 1945, he toured the mainland and entertained people from New York to Florida, from Seattle and Galveston.
Bruce moved back to Hawaii in 1969, where he continued to delight people with cheer, music, charm and his life stories at Hyatt Maui, the Maui Cultural Center, the Hideaway, the Wunderbar and others. People across the island will miss him.
Bruce was an attendee of Saint Anthony’s Church. He is survived by his wife Lucille, children, Mark Wilson, Bruce “Jaime” Guerin, Lisa Smeltzer and Mark Duncan; grandchildren, Nick Johnson, Taylor Smeltzer and Victoria Smeltzer.
