Douglas Kaniela Keola Roman passed away on March 27, 2025, in Haiku, Hawaii, at the age of 34. Born on June 23, 1990, he was raised in Pukalani, Maui, where he spent his life surrounded by the natural beauty of the island and the warmth of his community.
Douglas was a devoted father to his son, Kuha'o Akui Keola Roman Kahiamoe. He was the beloved son of Valerie A. Babaya (Frontonio Willis) and the late Douglas R. Roman. He is also remembered by his brothers Isaac Roman and Justin Roman, along with two other siblings. His extended family includes his grandfather Victor Babayan (Rose), his late grandmother Jane Babaya (Wences Jarnesky), and his late grandparents Alexander and Emilia Roman. He leaves behind numerous uncles, aunties, nieces, and nephews who will cherish his memory.
A skilled mechanic by trade, Douglas was known for his strong work ethic and generous spirit. He loved hunting and fishing and found joy in spending time with family and friends. Those who knew him remember him as kind-hearted and selfless—someone who always put others before himself. His presence lit up every room he entered.
A celebration of life will be held on June 28, 2025, at Ho'okipa Beach Pavilions to honor Douglas’s memory among those who loved him most.
