He was a retired Building and Grounds Maintenance Supervisor at Kula Hospital with 41 years of service and retired from the Army Reserve/National Guard with 33 years of service.
He was a member of the Kwock Hing Society and St. John’s Church. He also had a team, Harley’s Dragons, in the Maui County Senior Softball League.
He is survived by his wife Florence S. Y. Hew Ching; son, Casey (Stacy) Ching; daughter, Gloria (Matthew) Lau; 6 grandchildren, Trisha, Tiffany, Janelle, Taylor, Lindsay and Ke‘ala; 4 great-grandchildren, Amber-Rae, Destiney-Lee, Kimberly-Ann and Greg; brothers, Elliot Ching, Melvin (Doris) Ching, Wilson (Betty) Ching; sisters, Irene Chung, Gertrude Ceballos, Joycelin (Albert) Chong and Bernice Lynch.
Predeceased by brothers, Thomas, Alfred and Gerald; sisters, Lily Akina and Grace Hayworth.
Private services held. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 17, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Parish Hall in Kula.
