

Joan Paz Andia, of Kahului, joined her creator on January 18, 2025 at the age of 70. Joan was born on March 29, 1954 to Naty Pacis Paz and Zach Paz in Bantay, Ilocos Sur, Philippines.She attended Bantay Elementary School and Ilocos Sur National High School. After studying midwifery at the University of Northern Philippines, she migrated to Hawai’i in October of 1975. In 1978, Joan married Jose Andia, who has since passed. She began a Housekeeping career at Kapalua Bay Resort, as a Housekeeping maid then as Housekeeping Inspectress, then at The Embassy Suites and Napili Shores. After working 20+ years at the Royal Lahaina Resort, starting as a Housekeeper and retiring as an Executive Housekeeping Manager, Joan became a travel agent and worked part-time for Noble Travel. A devout Catholic, she was a parishioner of Christ the King Church and a member of Assumpta Choir, one of the church’s Filipino choirs.A devoted grandmother, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandsons. She also enjoyed fashion, shopping, traveling and dancing. Joan was a proud member of the Ilocos Surian Association of Maui, most recently serving as the association’s Treasurer. She also served as a member of the Binhi at Ani Board of Directors, ILWU, the Bantay Association and various other Filipino community organizations.Joan is predeceased by her parents, sister Rida Paz Baria, brother Josefino Paz and husband Jose Andia. She is survived by siblings Zachary (Frances) Paz, Zana Cook, Bles (Alfred) Mariveles and Demi Jo Teano; sons Christian (Janile) Andia and Frederick (Marilyn) Andia and daughter Joyce Roback; grandchildren Cidney, Taevyn, Zaesha, Velvet, Rhyder, Vegas, Jarred and Jerick; great-grandsons Camilo and Akio; and companion Floro Antolin.May eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.
