Joseph Soares Medeiros Jr.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2014, at Ballard Family Mortuary; open mic will begin at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2014, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Makawao Ward; service will begin at 11:30 a.m.; burial will follow, 1:00 p.m., at the Maui Veteran’s Cemetery in Makawao.

Joseph was a retired Wild Life Biologist for the State of Hawaii. He also served on the Board of Directors of the World Council of Credit Unions as World Council President from 1976 to 1979. He loved golfing and was a member of the Maui Country Club. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Kuni-Medeiros; daughter, Rose Marie Medeiros; sisters, Rose Marie Protacio, Ruth M. DePonte; Grandchildren, Leilani Marie Carvalho, Joseph W.E. Labuanan Jr., Kawika J. Labuanan, Keone T. Labuanan; great-grandchildren, Ashley Medeiros Carvalho, Demi Lynn Carvalho, Josia S.A. Labuanan; nephews, Moses Medeiros Jr., Edward Medeiros Jr., Joseph A. Medeiros, Charles Medeiros, John Medeiros, Jerry P. Protacio Jr., Curtis Protacio, Jeffrey Protacio; and nieces, Pamela Lopes, Ramona KanHai, Angela Fass, Rosa Say, Rebecca Lake, Marise DePonte, and Ruth Ann DePonte.
