Mauro was born as the youngest of 9 children on May 3rd, 1955 to Rufino and Magdalena Torres in Rosales, Pangasinan, Philippines. He married his wife, Delma Ubaldo Torres, on August 27th, 1972, and together they had 5 children. After a brief two years apart, Mauro immigrated to Maui during the summer of 1980 to be with his family and begin life anew. For 31 years, Mauro worked as a Public Area Attendant at the Hyatt Regency Maui, where many remember him as a fun-loving and generous person who always loved to bring a big batch of home-cooked food to share at lunchtime. In his free time, he enjoyed watching boxing, wrestling, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, and singing Englebert Humperdinck's greatest hits on karaoke.
Mauro is predeceased by his parents, Rufino and Maria Torres, brothers Ildefonso, Placido, Victorio, and Felix Torres, his sisters Felicidad T. Viloria and Segunda T. Junio, and his granddaughter Aisya Marie Torres Desierto. He is survived by his wife, Delma Ubaldo Torres, his sisters Agustina T. Mangisel and Cayetana T. Caritativo, his children Delbert (Lydia) Torres, Maureen (Billy) Kaniho, Bobby (Shiela) Torres, Grace (Nolly) Yagin, and Ann Marie (Christopher) Desierto, and seven grandchildren Jezabel (Tyler) Torres-Huynh, Justin Torres, Isaiah Torres, Andrew Yagin, Christian Desierto, Matthew Yagin, and Ava Torres, as well as many nieces and nephews on Maui and in the Philippines.
Mauro's funeral service will be held at Ballard Family Mortuary, 440 Ala Makani St., Kahului, HI 96732, on Monday, February 23rd, 2026 beginning at 5:00PM for immediate family, followed by public visitation beginning at 6:00PM.
