Paul attended Kamehameha III School and Lahainaluna High School. In 1955 he enlisted in the U.S. Army stationed in Schofield Barracks, Honolulu, HI then he was transferred to Germany. In 1958 he returned to Maui and remained in the Army Reserve until 1963. He worked as truck driver for Baldwin Packers Pineapple Company, then a crane operator for Vincent Construction, and met the love of his life, Puanani Neizman, and got married in 1959. With a baby on the way, he started work in the tire department at Pioneer Mill then was promoted to a mechanic where he remained until he retired in 1995. He also worked as a gas attendant at Texaco on Lahainaluna Road and in the evenings he was a musician and played as a drummer for many famous entertainers in Lahaina. He was also a musician and a singer for bands like “The 5 Visayans” and “Opelu and the Swinging Opihi’s”. On his days off he would gather his friends and go fishing. He loved being on the ocean in his boat with family and friends. When he retired, he became a CB Radio enthusiast. Every morning you would find him at Mala Wharf connecting with the CB Radio world saying, “Breaker, breaker, this is Grandpa Palomino…” and he would take his dog Chookie wherever he went. In his later years he sang and played his guitar for the 7am Choir at Maria Lanakila Church.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice Maui, Kaiser Permanente and Kaiser Homecare for their support and their compassionate caring.
