
Steven Hunter Hood, 70, passed away on November 4, 2015 in Wailuku, HI after a brief illness. He was born on March 15, 1945 in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated from Abington High School in Abington, PA in 1963 and was trained as an EMT and a Paramedic after high school. In the early 90’s, Steve moved from Point Pleasant, PA to Hawaii where he remained the rest of his life. Steve was very active in his Methodist Church growing up, participating in church choir. He was also very active in the local Boy Scouts of America. He loved all animals, especially frogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Henry II and Ella Virginia Hankinson Hood and his brother Robert H. Hood III. He is survived by his sister Laura H. (Ginger) Thomas and her husband Samuel (Sam) of Mobile, AL; a sister-in-law, Barbara Hood of Line Lexington, PA; two nephews, Daniel B. Thomas and his wife Cheryl of Cleveland, MS; Arthur Hood, of Line Lexington, PA; a niece, Shelby Thomas of Mobile, AL; several great nieces and nephews and all of Steve’s Maui Ohana, especially his best friend Shawny Labrador.
Arrangements are being handled by Ballard Family Mortuary in Kahului, HI. A memorial will be held in the future at the convenience of family and friends. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Maui Humane Society Animal Shelter in his honor at 1350 Meha Meha Loop, Puunene, HI 96784.
