Theron Gerard Leland, our loving father and grandfather, peacefully passed away in Kailua Kona, Hawaii on May 19, 2018. He was 86 years old and was known to most as “Jerry”. Born in Bar Harbor, Maine, he served in the Air Force during the Korean War. After leaving the Air Force, he moved to California and met wife Sonja Leland. In the early 1960s, the family moved to Anchorage, Alaska. Jerry worked in communications for the Anchorage Telephone Utility. Summers were spent on his boat fishing Seward and Kachemak Bay. In 1987, he retired from ATU and moved to Kailua Kona, where he owned and operated Sunrise Pool Service.
Jerry is survived by son Terry Leland of Kailua Kona; daughters Debra Dunagan of Kailua Kona and Tricia Matyas of Las Vegas. He is also survived by grandchildren, Riley Tauscher, Ari Matyas and Brandan Matyas. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sonja.
