and friend, William Clifford Perry Sr., has passed into his new life with the
Divine Creator, from whence he came.
William was born and raised on Kahuku Plantation on O’ahu.
He had great appreciation and respect for his humble and loving parents,
William and Olivia Perry, and also for his Brother, James. He spoke often of his
special bond with his maternal Grandfather, Thomas, who left a profound and
lasting impression on him. He loved his family dearly!
Bill attended Saint Louis High School, where he excelled in academics and
enjoyed four years as a second baseman under Coach Frances Funai.
He received a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Hawai’i.
In 1959, He married his sweetheart, Joyce. They started a family right away
and moved to Kula, Maui when he accepted a Job working for Smithsonian
Institute at the Haleakala Observatory. He worked for HC&S in Pu’unene as the
head chemist from 1976 until he retired in 1998.
Bill was gregarious and friendly by nature and made lots of friends on Maui.
He was an athlete who loved bowling, golfing, basketball, baseball, and sports of
all kinds. He also loved kids and coached baseball at various levels throughout
his adult life. Winning the State Baseball Championship in 1982 was one of the
highlights of his life. He was so proud of that team! Bill was known also for his
beautiful Rose garden, his green thumb, his jokes, and his tender heart.
He valued friendship and loyalty, and was not afraid to say “ I Love You ”.
He is survived by his Wife, Joyce Perry, children: Jacqueline Perry,
