Christiaan Leonard Karpes

Christian Leonard Karpes, born February 24, 1940, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025.

He is survived by his wife Beatrice; his children Cathy (Jim), Brenda (Richie), and Chris (Haley); his seven grandchildren Michael, Shannon, Leanne, Colleen, Tawni (Frank), RJ, and Chase (Ainsley); and one great-grandson Brady.

He is also remembered by his brother Dick and sisters Mary, Paula, and Francesca.

He is predeceased by his parents, Wouter and Anna, and his brothers Bill, Gus, and John.

Chris was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada with his family after World War II. In 1952, they landed in Montreal and lived in Winnipeg, Vancouver, and Victoria, before finally settling in California. Chris met his wife at the Sooke Days dance, and they got married in December 1963. They lived in the USA for ten years before returning to Canada, where Chris worked for BC Telephone until he retired.

Chris enjoyed square dancing, camping, fishing, and working in his garage. He was very proud to be a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.

Prayers will be held on June 20 at 7:00 p.m., and the funeral will take place on June 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Parish in Kamloops.

Donations to the Alzheimer Society in Chris's name would be appreciated.
