After a long battle with Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis, our father passed away surrounded by his family. He was an amazing father who loved his children and grandchildren immensely. There was no problem too big or too small that he wouldn’t help us with and we knew his love for us was unconditional. We will miss his ability to make us laugh, tell a good story, and boss us around at the lake. As you read the obituary he wrote for himself below, it is apparent how much he enjoyed his life. He was a man who always had good advice and his last words to us were “you know, life is short, you gotta enjoy it!” Please join us to celebrate his life on March 3rd, 2025 at Schoenings Funeral Home at 12:00 pm.

If you are reading this or listening to this, I have cashed in my chips, walked the plank, kicked the bucket, or simply passed away.
I didn’t want to die. I loved my life and loved living. I had a wonderful life. Born June 7th,1950 in North Vancouver, Lynn Valley to be specific. The western world had been mostly at peace for five years. My father, back from four years of war, was eager to have a wife and family. I was the first of three, followed by my two wonderful sisters Jody and Cory.
My parents were very hard workers and instilled the same ethic in my sisters and me. My mother taught me to do laundry, sew, iron, make beds, and cook. In my mother’s words, “I’m not going to saddle some poor young woman with the kind of idiot I married.“ That poor young woman turned out to be Maryanne Livingston, my wife of 47 years, 8 weeks, 1 day, and 18 hours before she passed (but who’s counting).
Maryanne was undoubtedly the hardest-working, most driven person you could meet. She was a recently graduated RN from Edmonton and we met in Kamloops in a mixed bowling league. Together, we produced two wonderful children: Andrea and Crosby. Both are hard-working and I love them to bits. They in turn have given me 5 beautiful grandchildren: Casey and Hudson from my daughter Andrea & her husband Dwayne and Gray, Asher, and Banks from Crosby & his partner Brandi.
I had the best working career possible. I spent most of 50 years in sales in the electrical wholesale industry, 37 of them with E.B. Horsman & Son. It’s a great company and I could hardly wait to get to work each day. I was forced to retire because of my lung condition: Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis, a hideous disease.
Hopefully you have as wonderful a life as I did. Th-th-that’s all folks!
