It is with profound sadness that we grieve the loss of Robert (Bob) Donald. Born November 16, 1940 in Ocean Falls, B.C. and passed away suddenly September 19, 2021 in Logan Lake, B.C. Bob is survived by wife - Ann (Annie) Donald; Sister - Deanna Charlton; Daughter - Catherine Johnson (Duane Johnson); Grandson – Cameron Johnson; Step-son Stefan Bohn (Deborah Bolingbroke-Price); Niece – Lisa Charlton (Craig Chalmers); Niece – Laura Charlton; Nephew – Shane Donald (Ashley); Sister-in-law – Claire Heffernan (Dan Mooney). Predeceased by Father – David Mackie Donald, Mother – Annie Donald, and Brothers - William (Bill) Donald and Gordon Donald.
Bob was truly respected and loved by all whose lives were touched with his friendship and kindness. He particularly enjoyed his life in Ocean Falls, regaling folks with great encounters of his childhood through to young adult times in the town he loved so well. He felt himself fortunate to have had many different work experiences, from Johnson Terminals & Crown Zellerbach Mill to working the tug boats from Alaska to San Francisco, driving gravel trucks & tractor trailers. Then finally he spent 32 years with Eburn Sawmill in South Vancouver where he progressed from Log Booming to Millwright then retired as Lead Hand for the Maintenance Crew in 1998.
Retirement was soon interrupted when he met Annie with whom he enjoyed many adventures from back woods camping to cruising, including 2 major cross-Canada travels from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland. Between travels, he dedicated his spare time to extensive community volunteerism. He was always selflessly giving of himself to others. Bob was fiercely loyal to family and friends.
Bob loved his family and children immensely. He was delighted when kids were around, joyfully watching their playful antics, and even joining in whenever possible.
His presence will be clearly missed by so many. Memorial arrangements will be planned at a later date.
