Rocco Russo, age 75, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026.
Born on August 7, 1950, in Rende, Cosenza, Italy, Rocco immigrated to British Columbia, Canada, in 1960 with his mother and siblings, beginning a new chapter defined by resilience, hard work, and devotion to family. He remained deeply proud of his Italian heritage while building a meaningful life in Canada.
Rocco met the love of his life, Cheryl, in 1969 in Kamloops, British Columbia. They were married on September 1, 1973, and soon after purchased their first home, where they began building a life together and raising their family. Their marriage was the foundation of a life centered on love, commitment, and shared values.
A devoted husband, loving father, and cherished Nonno, Rocco found his greatest joy in his family. He was a successful businessman who worked for many years in the automotive industry, earning his Red Seal certification in automotive repair and painting, a reflection of his skill, dedication, and pride in his work. Known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and steady presence, he was respected by colleagues and loved by many.
Rocco had a deep passion for community and connection. He loved coaching and being actively involved with Kamloops soccer, generously sharing his time and knowledge with young athletes. He was also a lifetime member of the Colombo Lodge, where he actively participated in many events and valued the strong sense of fellowship and tradition it provided. In his quieter moments, Rocco enjoyed golfing, making wine, and having coffee with his buddies, friendships he treasured deeply.
Rocco is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl Russo; his sons Michael Russo and wife Glenda, and their children Ava and Enzo; Robert Russo and wife Tara, and their daughter Emilia; and Christopher Russo and wife Carly, and their children Milla and Arianna. He is also survived by his siblings Aldo Russo, Sam Russo (Teresa), and Sylvia Russo (Rick); his brother-in-law Tony Marchese; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Luigi and Emilia Russo, and his brother Frank and sister Anna.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 255 Nicola Street, Kamloops, British Columbia. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery Mausoleum.
The Russo family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Ridgeview Lodge and Dr. Andrew Wynne for their compassionate care and support.
Rocco will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
