With hearts full of sorrow and bittersweet gratitude, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Walter Adron Palmer.
We are heartbroken that he is no longer here in this present life with us.
Yet, we are beyond grateful that he was our Dad... we were so blessed, and he was such a wonderful father to us.
His journey on earth was one marked by love, compassion, integrity, generosity, joy and unwavering faith in God.
Dad passed peacefully on March 7, 2026, at the Pine Grove Seniors Community in Kamloops. B.C. He was 89 years of age.
That morning, he made his journey to his eternal Home in Heaven. We know he is happy there, and now he's with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Walter (Dad) was born on July 18, 1936, in Glendon, Alberta, to his parents Lois and Vernie Palmer. Dad and his siblings, Beulah, Buford and Wanda, were raised in a humble, country family lifestyle, where he learned the value of hard work and perseverance, along with laughter, faith, and strength.
Family was always very important to Dad growing up, and it was his top priority when he started his own family with his beloved wife Esther in 1956.
They were married for 66 years and raised their four children.
Walter is survived by his children, Lori Blackburn (Grant Blackburn), Duane Palmer (Shauna Noyes), Terri Corneau (Roy Corneau), and Les Palmer (Cheryl Palmer). Also, survived by his grandchildren Kali Corneau (Jamie Scales), Kevin Corneau (Rebecca Corneau), Adam Corneau (Kate Corneau), Ashli Sylvestre, and Lindsey Palmer... Plus his great-grandchildren, Kya Blackburn, Radley Corneau, Reese Corneau, Isabel Corneau, and Miriam Corneau. He is also survived by his sister Wanda Kryzanowski.
His Family members who were waiting at Heaven's door for Dad's arrival were;
his beloved wife, Esther Palmer, his parents, Vernie and Lois Palmer, his siblings, Buford Palmer and Beulah Bettcher, and his granddaughter, Chalsi Sylvestre.
We know there was a joyful reunion with them all when Dad got there!
Walter (Dad) had an enormous heart and a great sense of humour... he loved to laugh and have fun. His unconditional love, strength of spirit and unending generosity for family, friends, and others were evident throughout his life.
Our Dad spent his working years as a professional Truck Driver for over 60 years. He was a very hard worker and was wonderful at his job. He showed us the value of working hard, living with integrity and doing our best at whatever we do in life.
Dad was active and athletic throughout his life. He loved playing hockey, baseball and golf. He also enjoyed water skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, and hunting.
He loved music and was very talented. He sang well and played guitar, bass, mandolin and harmonica. What a joy it was for our family to share that same love for music. We experienced many great times singing in Church and other venues... including just singing around a campfire.
Life was good and full growing up with our Dad, and he was loving and supportive all through our lives and into adulthood.
In the last three and a half years, after his stroke, our Dad was lovingly cared for by the wonderful caregivers, staff and doctor at Pine Grove Seniors Home.
Dad felt at home there, and he was still joyful and content. The staff always told us they loved Walter... and we are grateful to them.
Dad cared deeply about the people in his life, and he made a positive impact on those who knew him. He loved to share his strong faith and joy in Jesus Christ with others. He leaves an amazing legacy behind that we will carry forward.
Walter's theme in life can be heard in the words of one of his favourite songs...
"I'd Rather Have Jesus Than Anything... this world affords today."
