Robbie was predeceased by his mother Joséphine , father Merel & oldest brother, André. Robbie will continue to live on, through the lives of everyone who know him, particularly his remaining siblings- Rose-Marie ( he was her baby) , Roger ; Benalda( Bennie),Jean-Claud , Pierre and all his nieces and nephews ;his daughters, Nicole and Chantal; and their extended families. Robbie grew up in the small community of Shippagan, New Brunswick and moved out west to in the 70’s, where he met his children’s mother, Sheila, in Merritt BC and it was there that their first daughter was born, in 1986. After the birth of Nicole, they moved to the "big" city of William's Lake, and in 1990, Chantal joined the family. Sheila and Robbie spilt in the 90’s, but his love for his girls never wavered-no matter what - although, he likely wished they liked fly fishing as much as he did! Everyone who had the joy of knowing Robbie knew he took every opportunity he could to get on a lake no matter how far he had to drive to just to be at the water. He became a “Papa Robichaud “ in 2012 and his love for Damian and Jordan exceeded that of his love for fishing. In 2023, his dream came true and both of the boys caught their first fish while on a camping trip together. Robbie was a great dad who made the best out of every situation and always accepted everyone, just as they were. And his laughter was always a light during a conversation with him. He didn't need much to be happy - which was helpful being a Habs fan. Robbie worked many years at Lignum before it turned into Tolko lake view and once he retired his retirement dreams came true when he could just go be in the bush for months on end and not have to worry about anything except when the frost would push him out and he would have to head back to civilization.
Arrangements for a simple memorial will be shared at a later date, just like Robbie would have wanted. If you'd like to join, please reach out to Chantal, [email protected] and you will be notified once scheduled. Also feel free to reach out if you have any stories to share.
Thank you to everyone for your support to the family as we go through this difficult time.
“Enjoy your fishing trip Papa Robichaud, see you again 💙”
