He was a devoted husband to his one and only love, Evelyn Joyce Hipple, whom he married on his 23rd birthday, November 6, 1977. Together, they shared a life filled with love and adventure. James was a cherished father to Angela Kaye Cannon, Bethany Leigh Hale, and James Donald Hipple Jr., and a loving father to Kateri Lynn Dailey (Hanai daughter). He was also a proud grandfather to 7 grandchildren. Laney, Natalie, Jasmine, James III, Lilyana, Jack, Koa.
James's career began as a bartender, but his path changed significantly when he joined the US Marine Corp, serving for 20 years. He retired as a Gunnery Sergeant - E7, having spent most of his career stationed at the Marine Corp Air Station Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, now known as Marine Corp Base Hawaii. His work as a parachute rigger and aviation maintenance chief reflected his hard-working and resilient nature. After retirement, he continued to indulge his passion for mechanics by working on boats and classic cars, particularly cherishing his 2011 Shelby Cobra GT500.
A kind-hearted and generous man, James was known for his humorous and grumpy nature. He was actively involved in his community, famously known as the Girl Scout Grandpa, helping his granddaughter sell Girl Scout cookies. Family was everything to him, and his selfless, thoughtful, and loyal qualities left a lasting legacy.
James lived life on his terms, with a red bull in one hand and a cigarette in the other. His family, residing in Kaneohe, Hawaii, is grateful for the life he gave them, the adventures they shared, and the opportunities provided by their life in Hawaii.
James Donald Hipple's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his compassionate and devoted spirit will forever be remembered. "Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us everyday." Semper Fidelis - Always Faithful.
