

James (Jimmy) Seiyu Yamashiro lived a long, blessed life. He was born on February 4, 1921 to Kama and Kamato Yamashiro in Kapaa, Kauai. He was 99 years old when he left to join his Savior and his beloved wife, Joyce.
Jimmy enjoyed a full and active life. He experienced plantation life on Kauai as a child, college life in Honolulu, Army life during WWII serving in Japan, built his own business, and the most fulfilling experience accepting Jesus Christ into his life.
Jimmy fell in love and married Joyce on July 5, 1947. Their marriage lasted 71 wonderful years until Joyce passed away on January 22, 2019. They are survived by four children; Alvin Yamashiro (Jill), Joan Kawamoto (Michael), Janet Yokotake (Greg), and Bonny Tachino (Lance). They loved their grandchildren Joanna Oshiro (Troy), Trisha Caley (Steve), Colin Yokotake, Cory Yokotake, Erin Tachino and cherished their great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Dylan, and Haylee.
Jimmy is also survived by a sister, Harue Arakawa, and a sister-in-law, Eiko Yamashiro. He was predeceased by his brothers, Seiji Chickadee and Seigi and his sister, Kay Henna.
Jimmy will be remembered for his warm welcoming smiles and heartfelt blessings, his entrepreneurial spirit, his green-thumb gardening skills, his handyman skills, and his athletic abilities - especially golf in his later years (this included a hole-in-one!). He was a proud Okinawan and a member of the Ishikawa Shijin Kai.
Jimmy was an amazing husband, father, grandpa, gigi, uncle and friend. He touched many lives and will be missed. His was a life well lived. He passed peacefully on May 28, 2020.
