Joelyn "Joey" Ha'aheo Miyashiro, age 71, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away on August 26, 2025. Joey was a volleyball coach and retired teacher of the Hawaii State Department of Education. She was born on March 10, 1954 to Joseph and Eleanor (Tilton) Akeo. Joey was an All-American volleyball player at the University of Hawaii in the mid ’70s. She is survived by her sisters, Ingrid Lee (Gerald) and Ku’uleinani “Ta” Data (Robert); Preceded in death by brother, Tilton Akeo (Susan) and sister, Stephanie Perez (Kamaki); children, Tehani Fiatoa (Kaipo), Imai Miyashiro (Risa), 'Ainoa Miyashiro, Tamari Miyashiro and Kaulana Miyashiro (Alex); 12 nieces and nephews; and 13 grandchildren. Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Hawaiian Memorial Park and Cemetery. Visitation 4pm and Service 5pm. Aloha attire. Flowers welcome.
