The Late Mr. Regidor (Regie) Saclayan Tolentino was born on a Saturday, August 21, 1948 in San Isidro Luna, Mountain Province, Philippines. His parents, now both deceased, were Arsenio Delos Santos Tolentino and Maria Saclayan Tolentino. He had an older sister, Adelina, who also preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fe Balancio Tolentino, his oldest son, Roderick (Rod) and daughter Sherry Lyn (Sherry). Regie and Fe have 4 grandchildren: Imogen Alexis, Serenity Isabelle, Aiden Cole and Avery Scarlet. Sherry and her family currently live in Nevada, Las Vegas. Due to family hardships, Regie only finished his elementary education. In order to help out the family, he went into farming. Later, at age 19, he immigrated to the Hawaiian Islands to seek a better life. His dad, Arsenio, was born in the U.S. so that automatically made Regie become an American citizen which made his trip to Hawaii in 1969, an easy transition. Upon arriving in Hawaii, he joined The Laborers’ International Union of North America - Local 368 and soon got hired as a laborer at Thoht Construction Company with a starting pay of $4.15 per hour. At first, he regretted coming to Hawaii because it was hard labor in the construction industry. But as the days progressed, he managed to adjust himself to the lifestyle of living in this “Paradise”. With a new lifestyle, he was able to meet a beautiful woman by the name of Fe Evangelista Balancio. They dated for a few months and soon Regie knew that this was the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. At first it was difficult to convince Fe’s family to give their blessing, but Regie didn’t give up and in the end he succeeded. Regie and Fe got married in the Philippines on a Saturday, on January 5, 1974. Last January 5 of this year, Regie and Fe celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Regie spends his spare time productively by doing various DIY projects around the house, He also cooks various yummy Filipino dishes. Together with his wife, Fe, they volunteer in various activities and ministries in the Church. For relaxation, he enjoys watching Border Patrol, modern Korean Dramas and shows related to the Paranormal. He likes to watch CNN or Fox News to stay on top of current events. He also travelled to various Stateside destinations to include: Lake Tahoe, California, Nevada and Texas. International destinations include: Paris, Rome, United Kingdom, Taipei and The Philippines In summary, Regie was an all-around, kind and generous person who enjoyed talking to people, spending time with his family and just living life to the fullest. He was a special and unique person who will sadly be missed by everyone but will forever live in our hearts. **Note: Should anyone wish to upload or share any memories of Regie; please go to https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/kaneohe-hi/regidor-tolentino 11817269 click Add a Memory.
