

Early Sunday morning, October 2, 2016, Barbara (Serene) Witt of Basehor, KS left her loving family behind and joined her beloved husband Stanley “Dave” Witt in heaven. Barbara was born July 14, 1943 in Kansas City, KS to Gladys & John Serene. She attended Wyandotte High School, where she met the love of her life, Dave Witt. They shared 44 loving years of marriage, raised their family of 3 children and ventured into 3 businesses together. Barbara provided the bookkeeping to support their businesses, Dave’s Apco (1970’s), Dave’s Plus car washes (1977-2001) and Dave’s
Construction (1979 to present).
Barbara was known for her strong family values, her huge loving heart (she was an honorary “Mom” or “Grandma” to many) and being one of KC’s biggest Royals fans. The family requests everyone to wear Royals baseball attire or blue clothing to her celebration of life. A visitation will be 5-8pm, Thurs., Oct. 6thand the
funeral service will be 10am, Fri., Oct. 7th, all at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N 94thSt, Kansas City, KS.
Barbara was also very active and passionate about the Lord and her church, as such the family suggests donations to the West Haven Awana Club, P.O. Box 318, Tonganoxie, KS, 66086.
She is survived by her daughter, Kelly Braathen (Dale); two sons, Curtis Witt (Alicia), and Shannon Witt; six grandchildren, Kyle & Klayton Braathen, Katelynn Witt, Shelby Covey, Tyler & Hunter Witt; great granddaughter, Kyndel Covey; as well as two sisters and one brother.
