Betty Rader, 90, Kansas City, KS, passed away February 3, 2017 at home in the loving care of her family, through the help of Grace Hospice. Betty was a wife, a mom, a Sunday school teacher and played the organ and piano for the churches she had attended, Springvale Bible Church, and Hope Baptist. She was a humble soul who could play the piano in the most profound way, though she was very talented, she was too nervous to be the center of attention and only displayed her talent among family. Betty was a kind, understanding and sweet lady. She enjoyed flowers and gardening and loved children, and would have loved to have had a dozen. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. James Thomas and Stella Marie Stickney; her stepmom Grace; her brother Robert; her sister Mary; her son, Harold Rader Jr.; her grandson, Randy Jonscher; and her brother-in-law, Danny Rader.
She is survived by her children, Wanda MacPherson (Dave), Marilee Herd, Deanne Jonscher (Charles), James Rader (Esther), and Laura Gonzalez (Paul); three sisters-in-law, Aunt Jean, Ilene Heath and Lola Smith; nine grandchildren, Nancy, Fred, Charles, Brian, Gary, Dustin, Melissa, James “J.J.”, and Daniel; as well as twenty-one great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112; funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
