

Bobby G. Moon, 82, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Garden Terrace of Overland Park. Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 19th, at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Bobby was born February 25, 1930 in Okemah, Oklahoma to Haskell and Irene Moon. He grew up in Alma, Arkansas, graduating from Fort Smith High School, where he played basketball. After high school, Bobby joined the Air Force, where he served as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War. After the war, Bobby moved to Kansas City, where he worked for Ford Motor Company for 23 years, before retiring in 1992. He was an active member of Landmark Baptist Church, as well as a member of the United Auto Workers, Local 249, and he loved fishing and watching Kansas City Royals Baseball. He enjoyed woodworking and vegetable gardening, and especially liked growing tomatoes, for which he once won a Blue Ribbon at the Wyandotte County Fair.
Bobby was preceded in death by his mother, his father, who was a Retired Pastor of Landmark Baptist and a local Radio Personality and his wife, Edythe Moon, when she died in 2006.
Survivors include 2 children, Cathy Miller and her husband Wayne, of Kansas City, Kansas, and David Moon and his wife Stephanie of Little Rock, Arkansas; 2 sisters, Betty Sterling and her husband Warren of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Kathryn Medlock of Alma, Arkansas; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
