

Brenda was born on December 10th, 1949, in Kansas City, Kansas. She began her life with family in Tonganoxie, Kansas and then moved to Kansas City, Kansas. She attended Washington High School and graduated in 1967. She began her working career at Mobile Oil, and then at AT&T. She finished her working career at the Turner Unified School District. She met and married her husband of 54 years, Richard S. Atkins. They were blessed with a daughter Shannon Delane, and a son Richard (Richie). Brenda enjoyed participating in all their activities.
Richard and Brenda along with their children began their walk with Jesus in May of 1983 at the Southboro church in Kansas City, KS. They together began teaching youth classes, and into adult classes. Richard was Ordained as a minister and Brenda asked the Lord to lead her into her Ministry of Singing and Speaking in different churches. She spoke and sang in churches and town venues throughout Kansas and Missouri. She also sang on a cruise with many top Gospel Singers. Brenda joined in Branson’s Singer and Songwriters Assoc. through it she was honored to Branson, female Gospel Singer of the year.
She continued to sing at many venues until her health began to critically fail. She then turned all her attention to her family whom she loved and cherished so dearly. Brenda had 4 grandsons and a granddaughter. They also loved her more than a million bucks as she would say.
In passing she has left behind her husband Richard and granddaughter Brooke Atkins. She also leaves her grandsons: Trey Kincheloe and his wife Carly; Trevor Kincheloe; Trent Kincheloe and wife to be Anna; and Chase Atkins. She also leaves behind a sister Marcia Cannedy and husband Merle. She leaves one cousin Karen Serrano and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her passing is her Mother Jackie and Father Harold Reece. Also a brother Ronald Reece and another sister Carol Ann Reece. She will be buried in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
