

She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, aunt, sister, and a friend to everyone she met. Brenda was born on February 28, 1952 in Springfield, Missouri to Clifford Gene and Daisy O. (Todd) Pendergrass. She grew up in Springfield, Missouri before moving to the Kansas City area in 1975. She married the love of her life: Donald Wayne Slavens on December 3, 1967. Brenda spent her time gardening, reading her bible, playing canasta, watching baseball and shopping. She was also an avid NASCAR fan.
Brenda is preceded in death by her parents, her biological father: Harold H. Lusk, husband: Donald W. Slavens who passed away earlier this year in March of 2011, brothers: Ricky Pendergrass, Ronnie Pendergrass, sister: Pamela Pendergrass and her loving companion “Katie”(her pet dog). Survivors include: daughter, Deborah Renee Vest and her husband John, son: David Wayne Slavens and his wife Rebecca, both of Kansas City, Kansas., brothers: Herman Pendergrass of Butler, Missouri., Clifford Pendergrass of Windsor, Missouri., uncle & aunt: George and Dorothy Nimmo of Kansas City, Kansas., and aunt: Josephine Farewell of Springfield, Missouri. She will be sadly missed by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 3:00-4:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
