

Buford Wayne Erwin, 87, died at his home in Kansas City, KS on Friday, April 9, 2010. He was born on October 28, 1922. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, where he met his wife of 58 years, Lois J. Mead. He worked and retired from the U.S. Postal Service, working as a letter carrier and supervisor. He was proud of the fact he was a member of the Postal Union for 60 years.He was a member of the Free Masons of KS and the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 1999.
Buford worked as a leader for the Hornets' 4-H club for 13 years. He started and organized this club. One of his main passions was photography. He was the photography leader for this 4-H club and also worked as a wedding photographer for many years. He also worked as the photographer for the Leaven newspaper for many years. Buford is survived by his wife, Lois Erwin, of the home, two daughters; Janet Manson (Tim) and Diane Jennings (Wayne), brother Keith Erwin of Chico, CA. Left behind to cherish his memory are his four grandsons; Alex Rieger, Neil Rieger, Luke Manson, and Nick Manson (Rose) and great-granddaughter Rheanna. He was a very devoted husband and wonderful father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.Funeral services will be at 6:00 p.m., Monday, April 12, 2010 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home 701 N. 94th Street KCK. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. A private burial will take place on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
