Carl A. Rice of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on January 11, 2021. He was 83 years old. A graveside service will be at 11:30 am on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Parallel Parkway & North 126th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66109. Carl was born on September 23, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri to Arthur and Marguerite Rice. He attended Washington High School and graduated with the Class of 1955. After his education, Carl joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country. On October 1, 1960, Carl married his bride, Beatrice Sue Kilderry. Over the years, Carl worked for the Swift & Company and Inx International; he was also the deputy of Wyandotte County Sheriff Department for a short time. In his free time, Carl loved to fish and in his younger days, he enjoyed hunting as well. Carl was known for his dry sense of humor and was a jokester that could make any one laugh. He was a great man, loved by many, and will be dearly missed.
Carl was preceded in death by his mother, Marguerite N. Bench, nee Bergwall; stepfather, Earl Leon Bench; and father, Arthur Lee Rice.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 60 years, Beatrice Sue Rice; daughter, Anastasia Stacie Sue Rice of Daytona, Florida; son Carl Steven Rice and wife Julie of McLouth, Kansas; grandchildren, Callie A. Rice, Cassie M. Rice, Robert Edward “Brody” Rice, Carl Jacob “CJ” Rice; brother, Larry Bench of Garland Texas; and sister, Vickie L. Rice-Bevelot of Lees Summit, Missouri; along with many other family members and dear friends.
