Charlene Olivia Young

Charlene Olivia Young, 72, of Gardner, Kansas passed away peacefully May 23rd, 2026 at Advent Health Shawnee Mission. Charlene was surrounded by her family and husband Kern of 44 beautiful years at her time of passing. Charlene was born to Charles and Isabell McKinley in Kansas City, MO.

In late November of 1981, she met her soulmate Kern. They married on January 2, 1982. Charlene lived a wonderful life while raising 3 boys. The highlight of her entire life was not her children, but her 8 soon to be 9 grandchildren who were her absolute world.

Charlene is survived by her husband Kern young of Gardener, Kansas; her children, Christopher (Kelly) Young of Olathe, Kansas, Kenneth (Perry) Young of Lenexa, Kansas, and Brian (Sarah) Young of Shawnee, Kansas. Most importantly, Charlene is survived by her 8 grandchildren who she always has McDonald’s money for…Kendall, Khloe, Drake, Karson, Tucker, Chase, Oliver, Wrenly, and soon to be baby peanut arriving in October.

Charlene was proceeded in death by her parents, Charles and Isabell McKinley, her brother Frank McKinley, her sister Carla McKinley, and her daughter Stephanie Young.

A Catholic Mass will be held at Queen of the Holy Rosary located at 7023 W 71st St. Overland Park, KS 66204 for Charlene on June 16th at 10:30 AM, with a visitation from 9:30 to 10:00 AM and Rosary at 10:00 AM. A luncheon will follow mass for family and friends.
