Cheryl Anne Holifield, age 68, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2026. She was born on January 3, 1958, to James Bailey and Bobbie Rogers, in addition, her stepfather, Larry Danforth, played a huge role in raising the woman we know and love today. Cheryl was a lifelong pillar of her community—one whose life was defined by service, grace, and unwavering love.
A proud graduate of F.L. Schlagle High School, Cheryl continued her education at Emporia State University, where she became a devoted founding member of the Mu Sigma Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She later completed her degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Kansas, combining both intellect and compassion in all that she pursued.
Though trained as an occupational therapist for many years, Cheryl found her true calling as a Family Service Counselor at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. In this role, she guided families through some of their most difficult moments with empathy, dignity, and care. Her excellence and dedication led her to become a multi-year million-dollar producer, a testament not only to her professional success but to the trust and comfort she provided to so many. It is also where she will be laid to rest—among the community she so faithfully served for nearly 20 years.
Cheryl’s life was deeply rooted in faith, family, and service. A devoted member of Oak Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, she lived out her love for God through her actions—supporting her community, uplifting youth, and nurturing countless “extended children” who were drawn to her warmth. Her involvement in organizations such as the NAACP and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority reflected her lifelong commitment to empowerment, leadership, and legacy.
At the center of Cheryl’s world was her family. She shared 47 loving years of marriage with her husband, Frank Holifield, and was a proud and devoted mother to her only daughter, Alexis Holifield. She also had a fur-baby, Chloe, who was her closest companion. As the eldest of five children, she lovingly led her siblings—Anthony, Marie, her cherished younger brother Jeffrey, and her youngest brother James—with strength and care. In turn, she carried her in-laws, turned bonus siblings, Willie Jr., Beverly, Phyllis and William very close to her heart.
She also embraced a chosen family who held a special place in her heart, including her best friends and godparents to her daughter, Gail and Eddie Jones. She is remembered with love and tenderly known as “Auntie Peaches”, by her extended family of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, whose lives were touched by her generosity, guidance, and unwavering presence.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, as well as her godchild, Ashley Jones and nephew Davarius Dedeaux, whose memories she carried close to her heart.
To know Cheryl was to experience warmth without condition. She was kind, welcoming, and endlessly giving—someone who would offer her last to those she loved. Her spirit was joyful and light; she was known for her radiant smile, her laughter, and her ever-present hugs. At the same time, she carried herself with elegance and poise—always impeccably dressed, her hair styled, embodying sophistication in every space she entered.
She found joy in life’s beautiful moments—shopping, traveling the world, enjoying fine dining, and, above all, spending time with those she loved. Yet, it was her work—walking alongside others in their most vulnerable moments—that she held closest to her heart.
Cheryl Anne Holifield leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service that will continue to live on in every life she touched. Her presence was a gift, her life a blessing, and her memory a treasure that will forever be cherished.
