Curtis W. Cranford, 71, of Pope, MS, passed away on September 17th, 2024. He was born on September 7th, 1953, in Brinkley, AR, to Alva Lee (Alvin) and Youlon Cranford. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Curtis briefly served in the United States Army before meeting his soulmate, Jo Carol. With her by his side, he had a short career in country music under the name Kurt Wayne and went on to enjoy playing his guitar and singing at their long-time church with his friends and church family.
The family also enjoyed traveling together, taking trips with their children and grandchildren to Disney and many other places. He also enjoyed trips with just he and his wife, with Hawaii being one of their favorite destinations.
Curtis was deeply devoted to his large family and many friends. He enjoyed being of service and helping those he loved. We hope that he will be remembered by all in the small and joyful memories that we share of him individually.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Edward, brother Billie Gene, sister-in-law Brenda, in-laws AJ and Jean Mace and his beloved dog BoBo as well as a legendary 6 ft tall rooster. He is survived in his passing by his wife Jo Carol, and four of his siblings: His brother Harvey Johnson, brother Jerry and his wife Mary, brother Harold and his wife Sandy, baby sister Helen, and his sister-in-law Iris. He also leaves behind his daughters Jaime Cranford, and Kelly (Shawn) Stokes, and his grandchildren Dylan Clevenger (Raven), Lexie Clevenger (Nicolas), Kayla (Jordan) Longenecker and their children Olivia, Peyton and Elizabeth, MacKenzie Stokes, Harper Stokes, Ariel and Aurora Stokes. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews and in-laws.
The services will be held on Tuesday, September 24th, 2024 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens located at 701 N 94th St, Kansas City, KS 66112. There will be a visitation from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by the funeral service starting at 1:00 pm. Burial to follow on site.
