Cynthia Nanette Lahmann, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, and aunt passed away peacefully at home on January 19th after a long journey marked by strength, resilience, and grace. Though her body grew tired, her spirit never did. She is now at peace, resting easy.
Cindy was born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas where she laid the foundation for a life rooted close to family and friends. She spent most of her career as a web designer at Kansas City Kansas Community College and Kansas City Safari Club International. She was known not only for her dedication, but for the genuine friendships she formed and carried with her beyond the job.
Cindy shared 41 beautiful years of marriage with her husband, who was her rock, her partner, and her greatest supporter. Together, they built a family where being a mother became Cindy’s greatest pride and joy, a joy that deepened even more when she became a grandmother. She adored her granddaughter and cherished every moment spent with her, whether it was learning to walk, laughing, playing games, sharing eskimo kisses, or simply being together.
At her core, Cindy was known for her love and playful sense of humor. Her love wrapped around everyone she cared for, and her presence made life brighter. She was a steady shoulder to lean on and a voice of reassurance. She had a gift for offering words of affirmation, thoughtful advice, and quiet support.
She faced life’s challenges with resilience and determination, and even in her hardest moments, her love for her family never wavered.
She was preceded in death by her father, Loris Griffin; mother, Evelyn Griffin; and brother, Tim Griffin.
She is survived by her husband, James Lahmann; daughter, Michele Brown; granddaughter, Clara Brown; son-in-law, Kevin Brown; sister, Brenda Griffin-Myers; sister, Paula Green; niece, Desiree Loa; niece, Lindsay Goff; brother-in-law, Greg Lahmann; and her dog, Roxie, who all will forever carry her love, her laughter, and her spirited wit in their hearts.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be planned in the coming weeks.
