David E. Bell

David Eugene Bell, 59, of Kansas City, KS passed away on December 24, 2015 from ALS. David was born on January 5, 1956 in Kansas City, KS to Eugene Ellis Bell and Esther Mae Bell. David graduated class of 1974 from Washington High School in KCK and attained his BA in Political Science in 1978 from UMKC. He served 23 years on the KCK Police Department and retired as a Master Sergeant in 2013. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 4 in KCK. He previously worked for Milgram Food Stores and Pepsi Cola.

David was married on May 24 1993 and was a devoted and passionate husband of almost 23 years to Deborah Del Bell. He was a dedicated and loving father to a son and daughter. David was a member of St Patrick Catholic Church and was a devout follower of Jesus Christ.

His mother Esther Mae Bell preceded David in death. In addition to Deborah, survivors include his father Eugene Bell of Gladstone MO, sister Nancy (Jerry) Kuhn of Chattanooga TN, son Bryan (Jessica) Wright, of Overland Park KS and daughter Sheree (Kevin) Blackwell of Jacksonville FL. Grandchildren are Trenten, Nicholas, Chloe, and Austin Wright; and Kayla and Aedan Blackwell. Nieces and nephews are Nicole Kuhn of Chapel Hill NC, Chad (Nikki) Kuhn of Hanover PA, and Ashley Tibbetts of Cartersville GA.

Very special thanks to Catholic Charities Hospice and all the family and friends who cared for David during the most trying final year of his life.

Services are Monday, December 28th at 11am at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th St, KCK. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 9am. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, KCK. In lieu of flowers or gifts the family asks that you please donate to the ALS Association Mid-America Chapter.
