

Donald Joseph Conaty, Sr., 92, of KCK, passed away October 15, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be 2:00pm, Thursday, October 19th with visitation from noon-2:00pm at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCK. Interment with Honors will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
Don was born July 10, 1925 in Kansas City, MO to Roscoe and Lura Conaty. He attended Wyandotte High School and left to work at Armour and Company before serving in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Campaign. After his return from the Navy, Don married the love of his life, Esther Fasso, on January 25, 1947. He worked as a meat cutter for over fifty years at a variety of stores, and was very active in the UFCW District Union Local 2. Don also worked for 10 years for the City of KCK. They were long time members of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was also a member of the American Legion and he volunteered to deliver meals with them. Don was an avid sports fan throughout his life; he played baseball most of his life and was on the Navy team, he also coached Youth 3 & 2 baseball and softball. He bowled with a company league and enjoyed swimming. Don was a very active man and always kept his home in impeccable condition. He loved and cared for his beloved wife, his children, his grandchildren, and his grand-dog, Ace.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dennis Michael Conaty; and his grandson, Anthony Michael Conaty.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Esther Conaty of the home; his son, Donald J. Conaty, Jr. of Blue Springs; his daughter, Sharon K. McMillan (Tom) of KCK; as well as six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
