

Donald G. Stroud, 83, passed away July 13, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet L. (Lyle) Stroud, the love of his life for 53 years. A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 16th from 6:00-8:00 PM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, KS. The funeral service will be Thursday, July 17th at 11:00 AM at Chapel Hill-Butler with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Kansas City, 3846 W. 75th St., Prairie Village, Kansas 66208.
Don proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the VWI flight squadron in Barbers Point, Hawaii. After his return from the Navy, Don went to work for TWA as a ground mechanic and worked for them until he retired. He took on some part time work as a ground mechanic for Painted Hills Golf Course and as a maintenance man for Cabela’s. He was a member of Tri-County Rod and Gun Club where he enjoyed marksman competition for Black Powdered Rifles. Don’s loved ones wish to comment and gratefully thank the staff at Garden Terrace Center of Excellence for their compassion and devotion during his illness. He is survived by his daughters, Karen (Jacob) Windham and Marcia (Jim) Puhl; brothers, Jerry (Nancy) Stroud and James (Karen) Stroud; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
