
Donald H. Turner, 85, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2015. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 AM Saturday, October 17, at Porter Funeral Home, 1835 Minnesota Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas with funeral services starting at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Don was born October 3, 1930, in Kansas City, Kansas. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Don owned the Turner's Orchard for over 40 years and was a mechanic for the United States Post Office. He was an extremely active member of the Westside Church of Christ, Landlords of Wyandotte County, Leavenworth Road Association, Odd Fellows, Wyandotte County Historical Society, National Rifle Association, American Legion, Postal Workers Auxiliary and the Kansas Fruit Growers Association as well as many other organizations. He was preceded in death by a son John William Turner. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lavonne I. Turner, 3 children Nova C. Mayes, Donald H. Turner, Karen L. (Matt) Eker, all of Kansas City, Kansas, 2 brothers Marvin Turner, Dee Kingsland, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
